Liz Hirsh Naftali is the great-aunt of Abigail Mor Edan, a three-year-old who was held hostage in Gaza for fifty-one days. Abigail was kidnapped by Hamas terrorists on October 7, 2023, from her community, Kfar Aza, after her parents were both murdered in front of her by Hamas terrorists.

In the wake of that attack, Naftali became a fervent advocate working for the release of the hostages. Even after Abigail’s release on November 26, 2023 she remains dedicated to working for all those who remain in captivity in Gaza.

Liz is the author of Saving Abigail, an important and inspiring book that tells the true story of what happened to Abigail and her family on October 7, 2023;; the resilience of little Abigail; and the fight to release all of the hostages.

Liz’s travels to Washington DC, across the United States, and around the world telling her personal -family story, the truth of October 7th and her advocacy since. Liz meets with students, Jewish communities, diverse legislators and diplomats, presidents, prime ministers, and multi- faith leaders and believers. Her message while centered around truth, is one of hope and humanity.

Liz speaks out about the importance of bi-partisan efforts to end the fighting and ensure security and a future for all Israelis, Gazans and all people living in the Gulf Region.

Naftali is the creator of The Capitol Coffee Connection podcast, a platform where she invites prominent, diverse leaders to talk about the common thread that binds us all together—our shared experiences, stories, and the very essence of our heart and humanity—leaving out politics and policy. Her dream, no matter what affiliation, is to make honest and thoughtful conversations a priority in order to sustain our democracy. She has interviewed over 60 incredible leaders and is in Season 2 of the Podcast.

Liz is a businesswoman, and a philanthropic and social activist. Liz serves on the board of Oakwood School and IKAR Shul Boards in Los Angeles, California. She serves on the U.S. Commission for American Heritage Abroad, the RAND Corp. Global and Emerging Risks Board.

Liz is the author of three books, Saving Abigail, Israel Land and Sixty Seconds of Light.  Liz is the proud mother of five diverse, interesting and incredible young adults.
